Terms & Conditions

  1. The Bipolar Support Group (Group) is a service provided by Bipolar Australia ABN 35 169 187 517 (Service).
     

  2. You are a participant of the Group sharing the online or in-person session with other participants (Participants) and with the group facilitator or facilitators (Facilitators).
     

  3. The Service is provided for residents of Australia only.
     

  4. The Facilitators are not doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, counsellors or other health professionals (including mental health professionals), and they do not provide any medical, psychological or pharmaceutical advice.
     

  5. The Service is limited to organising and facilitating the Group and seeking the Participants to provide moral support to each other. The support provided during a session is based on the matters brought by and shared by the Participants. 
     

  6. The Service is not a substitute for independent professional advice from a health professional, and nothing said by the Facilitators is intended to be used as medical, psychological or pharmaceutical advice, or to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent the bipolar disorders or any other mental illness or condition or any other illness or health condition. 
     

  7. Bipolar Australia does not accept any liability for any injury, loss or damage sustained by your use of or reliance upon the information you have obtained during or as a result of a Group session. 
     

  8. You must only attend the Group if you have a bona fide concern or interest in bipolar disorders, whether you have been diagnosed or believe to be suffering from the condition, or you are the carer, parent or guardian of a person diagnosed with bipolar, or a person providing regular support to the bipolar sufferer, or you are a health professional. 
     

  9. You must be 18 years of age or older to participate in a Group session and if you are younger than 18, you must only join a Group session in the supervisory company of an adult person, being your parent or guardian. 
     

  10. Unless express, written consent has been previously obtained, the Participants and Facilitators must keep all personal information private and confidential, unless required to be disclosed by law.
     

  11. Notwithstanding the preceding term, the Facilitators  may disclose your private and confidential information if such disclosure is believed to be reasonably necessary to prevent harm to yourself or to someone else, or the destruction of property.
     

  12. Bipolar Australia may however de-identify or anonymize your private and confidential information and use it without your consent for service evaluation, training, or any other purpose. 
     

  13. You agree that you must at all times during a Group session follow the directions of the Facilitators to ensure the equitable participation of all Participants, the respect to each other and the safety of all. 
     

  14. You expressly agree not to interrupt other speakers, provoke, disrespect, criticise or otherwise behave in a manner contrary to the purpose of providing moral support.
     

  15. The Facilitators have the right to demand that you immediately stop any inappropriate behaviour and to further demand that you leave the Group, and you expressly agree to immediately comply with any such demand.  
     

  16. If you attend an in-person Group, you agree to observe public health orders and preventative measures.
